Don't copy me, go to school - Olamide advises students

Olamide Baddo

Last week, YBNL boss Olamide made headlines when he told a group of students how he didn't go to school but still turned out successful.

Olamide was one of the motivational speaker at the second edition of a Summer Camp organised by Ogun State Government for Secondary school students in the state.

He told the students that he dropped out of Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijebu Ode because his parents could no longer sponsor his education.

His story, though inspiring, didn't go down well with some people who feel such tales would discourage students from going to school.

In a chat with Sunday Scoop, Olamide corrected the notion, saying he was just lucky and students shouldn't copy him.

"I was lucky to achieve my dreams despite dropping out of school . I left the university because my parents were not able to pay my tuition fees; as such, leaving school wasn't of my own making. If there was money, I definitely would have remained in school. You don 't have to drop out of school to fulfill your dreams. However, if due to one reason or the other, you are unable to complete your education, you should also know that you can still succeed regardless."
